Although
an enthusiastic participant in sailing adventures for years, Mary
Jane Hensen was apprehensive about any serious cruising... until
they took sailing courses at Offshore.
After
taking a course with Offshore in St. Petersburg, FL, Bonnie and
Ty Troutman are already packing their bags to bareboat in the
BVI.
Fran
O’Brien, a company president and pilot, finds true freedom
after buying a 45-foot Hunter. Then takes Fast Track to Cruising®
with Offshore.
We
are both 70 years of age and enrolled for this course during the
week of our 50th wedding anniversary; we could not have chosen
a better activity. It was wonderful.

Steve
is ready for his next offshore challenge. During the Newport to
Bermuda Race, (his 20th) Steve will be aboard Donnybrook,
a 73 foot Smith/Lee design owned by Jim Muldoon. The 2008 fleet
is expected to be the largest in Newport-Bermuda Race history.
In
recent years my son, Ryan began asking a lot of questions about
my dad and the type of things we used to do together. I always
would talk about the sailing trips and how much I enjoyed them.
It was these discussions that made me remember how much it meant
to go sailing with my dad and spend time together out on the ocean.
This
is our story. A story of people nurturing a dream of sailing to
the far corners of the world on a journey filled with exciting
adventures and encounters with other cultures; but mostly, an
odyssey filled with inner discoveries.

During
the 8-days of the “Fast Track to Cruising” class aboard
a Colgate 26 then a Hunter 41, I learned from seasoned sailing
instructors more than just the basics…I learned a new vocabulary,
new behaviors and a new appreciation for what it takes to really
sail. 
Bob
and Helene Pajak of Westhampton, MA won Offshore’s 40th
Year Anniversary Contest – A week on Captiva Island with
unlimited use of a Colgate 26. With the help of Helene’s
6th grade class, they claimed the Grand Prize!

After
completing four Offshore courses, Melinda Long, an executive living
in Richmond, Virginia, acquired a surprise mission: skippering
a 46-foot yacht for a group of unknown novice boaters on a weeklong
British Virgin Islands charter.

50.
