Performance
Sailing
This is one of the most highly praised
courses we offer. It's the next step up from Learn to Sail and
a precursor to Racing courses. Of great appeal to those who intend
to continue sailing in daysailors or pocket-cruiser size boats,
the course elaborates on how to make your sailboat perform to
its maximum potential. In addition, it expands and solidifies
your knowledge and confidence level through comprehensive safety
exercises and techniques. This course is also available during
our popular Womens Escape
Weeks.
Even if your ultimate goal is cruising, you'll find
this course invaluable in re-establishing your understanding of
sailing.
Racing Programs
If you like competitive sailing, Performance
Race Weeks combines North U. seminars with hands-on racing

More
quality time on the water than any other sailing
school. Some schools claim more time on the water but
they’re not teaching the whole time; we spend
every minute on the water teaching, and bring you ashore
for lunch and other much appreciated personal needs. |

How
it Works
This fast-paced sailing experience concentrates
on advanced sail trim, spinnaker techniques and becoming skilled
at getting every ounce of speed from your boat. You learn on an
award-winning COLGATE 26, with quick response characteristics
for instant feedback on the most subtle condition changes. Two
schedules are available -- a three-day course at commuter locations
and a five-day program at resort locations. Each day starts with
a 1-1/2 hour classroom session followed by six hours of sailing
with a lunch break at commuter locations, and a half-day of sailing
in the longer schedule at resort locations.
Each session is packed
with intensive drills to insure you graduate as excellent crew
for racing with the ability to maximize a boat's performance,
and respond quickly and accurately to emergencies. You sail with
no more than three other classmates and your instructor aboard,
insuring close individual instruction and no down time. Your graduation
gift is a sailing session without the instructor aboard to practice
your skills in tuning your boat to maximum efficiency.
